FreqoBot
FreqoBot is the robot Freqo uses to check websites for Freqo Compass, our SEO audit. If you see it in your server logs, here is what it does and how to stop it.
Which sites it reads
FreqoBot only visits websites whose owner uses Freqo: the site must be added to a Freqo account, have the Freqo script installed and have Freqo Compass turned on. It never visits other sites and does not follow links to other domains.
How often
Once a week, automatically. The site owner can also start an audit by hand, at most once an hour.
How it behaves
- It reads and respects your
robots.txtfile, as well as your sitemaps. - It reads 500 pages at most per audit, two pages at a time with a short pause between requests.
- It only reads public pages. It does not run JavaScript, fill in forms or log in.
- It identifies itself with this user agent:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; FreqoBot/1.0; +https://freqo.eu/bot)
How to block it
Add these lines to the robots.txt file at the root of your site:
User-agent: FreqoBot
Disallow: /
FreqoBot will stop reading your site at its next visit, and the site owner will see in Freqo that the audit is blocked.
